Build For A Cure 2016
More than 950 children are diagnosed with cancer each year in Australia, one in six children dies as a result. Sadly, around 50 of these children diagnosed are from the Hunter.
This September, International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Children’s Cancer Institute will launch Build For A Cure, a major fundraising initiative in which a house will be built from the ground up in just 21 days. Every aspect of the home will be donated meaning that every dollar raised will be going towards life saving research for children with cancer.
McCloy Group is proud to be involved with this worthwhile cause by donating a block of land at the stunning Billy’s Lookout in Teralba. The fully furnished four-bedroom luxury family home will be built by McDonald Jones Homes in just 21 days then auctioned on 23 October with all proceeds donated to Children’s Cancer Institute. The build commences Monday 29 August and the house will be revealed to the public for the first time on Sunday 18 September.
Chairman of McCloy Group, Jeff McCloy, said there was no hesitation when asked to be involved.
“I thought it was a great initiative to be a part of,’ Jeff said. “Children are the future. One accepts adults dying as part of life but it’s hard to accept children dying. We need to do as much as we can for them and it feels good to be contributing to the solution.”
“We’re very proud of the exceptional living environments we produce throughout the Hunter and New England,” said Jeff. “Billy’s Lookout is no exception and will provide a very attractive setting for the home buyer.”

“When Bill McDonald asked me to join the Build For A Cure campaign to raise funds for Children’s Cancer Institute, I was thrilled to have a ay I could personally help. These people aren’t asking for a miracle, just the funds to make it happen. Children’s Cancer Institute’s determination is infectious and I encourage all Aussies to give generously.
